Happy New Year all, I was curious if there is a list of operators that have 1-26’s for rent in different parts of the country.
Questions like, what kind of check out required? Rental insurance requirements ? Are the gliders available for cross country?
Are there clubs that allow qualified non- member pilots around the country? Etc.
Thanks a lot. -
I am trying to learn all I can before purchasing a 1-26.
Now I am hearing about checking if the glider has,” straight wings” .
Is that a thing? I suspect it can be a really big deal.
Safety of flight, etc?
How to correct?2 Comments -

Depending on which state you visit, there are many site to rent from. https://www.ssa.org/where-to-fly-map/ This is the web site of the Soaring Society of America. This link has the locations of each state and the contact information which may lead you to fulfilling your request.
Brian I’m guessing they are referring to wings that have been poorly repaired or rebuilt. This can show as wavy or curved trailing edges. It’s pretty easy to see.
