Eastern Pilots, The Labor Day contest has grown dramatically in popularity, increasing from six or seven gliders in 1999 to more than a dozen in 2001. A show of hands at the 2002 Championships seemed to indicate that this year we might exceed that number. Frank Reid reports that he and Jayne have been flying at 6000 agl in recent days. Scoring will be accomplished primarily by GPS. Frank has a few Garmin 12 units that he will loan out, so donít fail to come because you donít have a GPS unit. Come even if your are GPS challenged. The event will be an informal, but fun and competitive event. Be there. You will be scored one way or other. Registration cost is only $25. Tows can be provided on Thursday and Friday, August 29 and 30 for those who want to come early. Plan to be there on Friday evening, August 30 for dinner out with the group. Turn points will be posted in the near future.

Location: 18 miles east of Lancaster, SC on Hwy 903. From Charlotte - Hwy 521 to Lancaster, Hwy 903 E for 20 miles, left on Turn Point, straight to Thermal Trail. From Columbia - I-20 E to Camden, Hwy 601 N, Hwy 265 E 2 miles, Hwy 903 E 3 miles, left at Turn Point, straight to Thermal Trail.
