The annual Per Ardua Award is given in recognition of significant contributions to the welfare of the 1-26 Association and its members. Honorary Life Member Harry Baldwin (second award) and Mary Baldwin (first award) are being recognized for their many years of service in the Association, and in particular for being contest director for two highly successful 1-26 championships.
Always the ultimate competitor and demanding contest director Harry would not back down assigning tough tasks that stretched the limits of both the pilots and the planes. Mary, always with that wonderful smile and soothing conversation, would help calm any preflight uneasiness that pilots might have before Harry’s challenging tasks. Over the years Harry has held many positions in the association winning many rewards for his work and flying. Mary has also been active in the association serving as newsletter editor. She is the patron of the Spiffy Award giving rise to beautiful restorations of 1-26s
In honor of their sustained service to the 1-26 Association and with much gratitude, the Board of Directors of 1-26 Association rewards the team of Harry and Mary Baldwin the Per Ardua Award for the year 2016 (presented July 2017).
